You’ve seen it before, the little blue tick mark next to a famous person’s name on Facebook. The blue tick means that the profile is “verified,” and signifies that the account is the celebrity’s official Facebook account. But did you know that profile verification isn’t just for celebrities anymore? It’s true, now anyone can verify their Facebook Page after registering as a business. Increasing your credibility with Facebook’s blue tick mark for businesses is easier than you think, and there are many benefits that come along with doing it.

Why should I verify my Facebook Business Page?

When you search for a business, a verified badge makes it easy to trust that the page is authentic. In the same way,  it’s essential that you enable a verified badge on your business page so that visitors can trust that your page is legitimate. That blue tick mark on your Facebook business page is a sure sign that tells visitors that they are looking at the real deal and the true and authentic presence of your brand.

Having a verified badge also makes it easy for visitors to find and view current, accurate information about your brand. If your page doesn’t have a verified badge, it can be difficult for visitors to differentiate the real page from potential copies out there.

In the same vein, the blue tick symbol is useful for differentiating your brand from other, similarly named pages. Ones that might cause confusion when visitors search for your business on Facebook. For example, if your brand has a few groups on Facebook for various, niche purposes like education or marketing tips with a similar name, it can make things a bit confusing for searchers. Having a blue tick can help them to identify and easily find your official main page when searching for it.

A verified Facebook Business Page also helps to increase your visibility by placing it at the top of the search results when someone searches for your business and this can put you in a position to grow your followers and attract potential clients more easily.

Additionally, the verified badge gives you early access to new Facebook features that aren’t yet available to everyone which gives you an advantage over competitors who might not have the same access.

How to verify your Facebook business page

Fill out this form to request a blue verification badge from Facebook.

  1. To begin, click the “Page” option since this will be for business purposes, rather than the “Profile” option.
  2. Then click the “Select page to verify” drop-down menu to find your business page in the list. Note, you need to be an admin of this Business Manager account in order to submit this form.
  3. Next, attach a copy of your business’ water and lights bill, certificate of formation, or tax documents.
  4. Fill in the box to explain why your business account should receive a verified badge.
  5. You then have the option to add your other business social media account links, for example, Instagram, LinkedIn and so on, and any additional comments.
  6. When you are sure and happy that you have added all the correct and required information, click “Send”. After that, you will be re-directed to a page where you can view the status of your request.

You will receive a notification once Facebook has reviewed your request. They ask that you don’t submit more than one request for your account and mention that for denied requests, you can submit a new request after 30 days.

And that’s it! You’re all set to request a verified badge for your own business page.
